The Swanland Village Association was formed in 1987 originally under the title of the Swanland Preservation Society. "THE HISTORY OF SWANLAND" |
| Can you help Research is being undertaken by members of Swanland's U3A(University of the Third Age) history group and others into the History of Swanland. Members have been visiting libraries and their archives during the year and have unearthed many interesting facts about the village in earlier times. Once the research is completed it is hoped to produce a book. At present the one thing that is missing is pictorial evidence before the age of photography. If you have any paintings, early photographs or memorabilia that you would like to show the group, please contact John Holmes on 01482 632211 or Derek Brooks on 01482 634284. |

"SWANLAND 2000" |
| As life at the end of this millenium is so totally different to any
thing that was known before, it is felt to be important to record village life as we know
it today. The news paper boy delivering the daily paper; the milkman delivering the
doorstep pinta; children walking to the village school. We have to wonder what Swanland
will be like in another hundred years- would we recognise it? As a result of
the Local History Group's research into the past of Swanland, the idea was born to produce
a book to represent the life in the village at the year "2000".
